When we were still in our childhood, we were usually asked, “Ano ang gusto mong maging sa paglaki mo? (What do you want to be when you grow up?)”, and as a child, we are full of dreams. We will then answer that we want to be a doctor, a policeman, a teacher, and etc., for there are a lot of future that we could have, we chose to choose one single dream and it is because of a reason.

“Gusto ko maging doktor kasi gusto ko tulungan ang mga taong may sakit. (I want to be a doctor because I want to help people with diseases.)”

“Gusto ko maging pulis para protektahan ang bansa natin sa mga masasamang tao. (I want to become a policeman because I want to protect our country from the bad people.)”

“Gusto ko maging guro kasi gusto ko matuto ang mga bata. (I want to be a teacher because I want the childrent to learn.)”

We are always focused to our dreams but we haven’t noticed our reasons. Reasons which are not only for us as individuals, but for our community. It implicates that the community could influence you so much on your career.

Our society, as been emphasize many times already, shapes our self, identity, and even our future. The enculturated and shared ideas and cultures continues to grow as each of us could create modification and adjustments in it. Its dynamics impact us and our careers, that is why it is important for us to have a plan which could guide us in choosing our best career.

Well, when we get older, choosing the career that best fits us is difficult. It is important for us to assess ourselves, look and explore for the opportunities while considering our skills, and find a definite reason of making our career choice. We must take note that our career choice will not only impact us but the community we are accounted as well. By choosing the best career for us, we could put up a change to our community, of what is lacking and of what is too much already. Having a career fitting our skills and interests could put up a greater advantage if we want our communities to advance together with us, leaving no one behind. Because every individual produced by the community is expected to contribute for the betterment of everyone and not just for some personal interests, together, when we work hard to fulfill the needed roles in the community, no storm could go beyond our resilience.
